Biltema Foundation is donating EUR 1 million to Doctors without Borders. The funds will be immediately used for medical supplies and support activities in the Philippines after the recent catastrophe.
The unimaginable catastrophe which has hit the Philippines, a country that we at Biltema know well since we have operations there. Tens of thousands of people have lost their lives, hundreds of thousands have been injured, millions of people have lost their homes. They have nowhere to live, neither clothing, food nor clean water.
The lack of medicine and medical equipment is enormous. The need for medical support is increasing by the hour, due to the very much increased risk for diseases and epidemics.
Biltema Foundation has therefore responded immediately to the urge from the international organizations and NGOs for financial support. We did immediately transfer EUR 1 million to Doctors without Borders, who since Saturday is on ground in the Philippines with doctors, nurses and other personnel. The funds will be used for medical equipment and medicines.
Biltema Foundation has since some time already supported homeless children in the Philippines. It is therefore very natural for us now also to provide support to the very many people suffering, who’s lives are endangered by diseases and epidemics in the wake of one of the most serious nature catastrophes, says Biltema’s founder Sten-Åke Lindholm, who is chairman of Biltema Foundation
